Your guide to Lonavala, Alibaug and Karjat’s new restaurants for a quick escape from

Offering a picturesque view of a pristine lake and hills in the background, Saltt is a restaurant and bar located amidst the 170-acre Oleander Farms in Karjat. With minimal and modern interiors, the restaurant draws its ambiance from the green landscape of the farm. Enjoy the serene outdoors while you sip Saltt’s delectable botanical cocktails. We recommend the ‘Detox Nectar’ that pairs gin with cold-pressed beetroot juice, brewed hibiscus and cinnamon, or the ‘Gentle Charcoal,’ a blend of vodka with charcoal matcha tea, cold-pressed pomegranate syrup and muddled basil. The most popular dishes from their multi-cuisine menu are the Malai Broccoli, Kesari Dahi Ke Kebab, Mac and Cheese Arancini, Wine Braised Red Pumpkin Risotto, Pizzas, Tres Leches and Saltted Caramel Mousse. While at the restaurant, also pay a visit to the resident rabbits and hedgehogs and take a look at the owner’s vintage car collection.

3. Ten94, Alibaug

This recently opened cafe is a part of luxury homeware and lifestyle store run by five friends and design lovers. Located in a light-filled courtyard, the eatery at Ten94 has an ever-evolving menu, with frequent weekend pop-ups by Mumbai-based restaurants such as The Bombay Canteen, The Clearing House and Royal China. The sprawling store houses carefully curated home furnishings, exquisite tableware and whimsical decor pieces. Moreover, Ten94 hosts workshops, cookouts, pottery shows, and other activities regularly. Don’t miss their cafe’s coffee and baked goods, definitely the best in Alibaug!

4. Villa Bistro, Della Adventure & Resorts, Lonavala

Designed by architect and designer Jimmy Mistry, Villa Bistro is a 180 seater, indoor and outdoor dining destination sprawled over 4000 sq. ft. Mistry conceptualised a unique blue and white motif, taking inspiration from Parsi Gara embroidery, which has been used in the interiors of the bistro. This new restaurant has a menu of classic Italian dishes such as antipasti, wood fired pizzas, hand-rolled pastas, seasonal salads and traditional Italian desserts. We recommend Villa Bistro’s Bruschetta Assortite, Frittelle di Mozzarella, Tagliatelle Al Tartufo, Gnocchi Al Ragu, Margherita Pizza, Diavola Pizza, Tiramisu and Sicilian Cassata. Visit Villa Bistro for its cosy vibe and delicious Italian dishes.

5. Jatra, Alibaug

Launched by mother-daughter duo Naina Rahul Goregaonkar and Dhani Goregaonkar, Jatra offers farm-to-table Maharashtrian fare in a casual setting. The owners opened this eatery as they had to often turn away guests at their first restaurant—Paisley Experience. This dhaba-style cafe features vibrant interiors with old Marathi film posters hanging on bright yellow walls. Locals and tourists love Jatra’s Misal Pav, Vada Pav, Poha, Pakoras, Eggs Kejriwal, Puri Bhaji, Sheera and Upma. Check out Jatra if you’re looking for a simple Maharashtrian meal or snack!
