Nearly 80% of diners believe AI assistants will take over food ordering duties in the next few years, according to a press release and report by AI firm SoundHound AI.
Surveying individuals who eat at or order from restaurants at least once a month, the survey found that 77% of respondents expect to an AI voice assistant to order their food within a few years.
Other findings include:
- 47% say it is important for restaurants to use innovative technology to enhance user experience.
- The top drivers of customer satisfaction are order accuracy, food quality, and technology (in that order).
- Additional drivers of customer satisfaction include ability to call to place an order, speed of drive-thru service, and ability to order from an in-restaurant kiosk instead of in-person.
SoundHound AI has made the study whitepaper available via PDF.
