Three fast casuals specializing in chicken — Connecticut-based Haven Hot Chicken, Slim Chickens, which is headquartered in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and California-based Bruxie — are adding to their unit counts, according to company press releases.
Haven Hot Chicken, which was founded in 2020, will open its sixth location later this year in Storrs, Connecticut with a 2,000-square-foot store at 1206 Storrs Road. It will feature the brand’s signature menu of chicken and vegetarian options ranging from Country (not spicy) to Haven (extremely spicy), along with fries, sides and seasonal limited-time offerings. The brand also operates locations in New Haven, Orange, Norwalk, North Haven and Middletown.
Slim Chickens’ latest restaurant is opening at 525 Waller Ave., in Lexington, Kentucky, under the direction of multi-unit operating group, Houchens Food Group. The better-chicken brand has opened over 230 locations across the U.S. and U.K.
Bruxie, which serves, hand-crafted waffle sandwiches, chicken tenders and artisan custard shakes, is adding to its Southern California footprint this month when it opens in El Segundo, the second of six stores opening by year’s end.
“We are thrilled to become a part of the growing community of El Segundo, a city that’s seen much investment in recent years including the new L.A. Chargers training facility, Top Golf and more,” Scott Grinstead, CEO of Bruxie, said in a company press release. “We are excited that we can share the Bruxie experience with a new community, and look forward to sharing our unique menu, cool vibe and personalized service with our new neighbors.”
