Bonchon on Tuesday said it has promoted CFO Bryan Shin to U.S. CEO.

Shin has been CFO of the Korean fried-chicken chain since 2019. He takes over for Flynn Dekker, who last week was named CEO of Shipley Do-Nuts.

Shin has more than a decade of experience in the food and beverage industry, having worked with Goose Island Beer Co., Yum Brands and the Korean company CJ Foodville.

Byungmoo Park, chairman of Bonchon, said Shin has a “solid, cross-functional background and holds a holistic viewpoint of how to optimize” the food and beverage business in a competitive environment.

Bonchon operates 117 U.S. locations. System sales last year grew nearly 12% to $194 million. Unit volumes average nearly $1.7 million, according to data from Restaurant Business sister company Technomic. Globally, Bonchon operates more than 400 restaurants. The company’s U.S. operations are based in Dallas. All but five U.S. locations are franchised.

The company said Shin will “work to sharpen the brand’s positioning through menu innovation to drive trial, enhance guest touchpoint and continue to evolve the footprint.”

“I am extremely confident about Bonchon’s limitless potential as I embark on the journey of expanding our footprint across the U.S. and beyond,” Shin said in a statement.
