Wetzel’s Pretzels has announced the appointment of Vincent Montanelli to the role of COO. Montanelli joined the company nearly 20 years ago as SVP of operations, according to a press release.
MTY Food Group recently acquired Wetzel’s, and Montanelli aims to build on the brand’s momentum, driving store growth through its multitude of flexible store formats. The brand will soon open its 400th store, and Wetzel’s has experienced a 35% increase in same-store-sales growth. It has also partnered with big box retailers like Walmart, grown a mobile food truck fleet and opened a new streetside concept dubbed Twisted by Wetzel’s.
“I was excited to join the Wetzel’s team nearly 20 years ago, because of its unique combination of serving a fresh, high-quality product, while maintaining simple operations and a proven business model,” Montanelli said in the press release. “In this new role, I look forward to enhancing our guest experience and growing our network in new and innovative ways.”
Wetzel’s operates more than 370 bakeries.
