As mobile order-and-pay options expand for consumers, some believe the role of self-serve kiosks may lessen, while others think they are more important than ever. This is just one conundrum that a panel of experts will tackle during “Mobile pay and self-serve kiosks: Partners or competitors?” which is part of the annual Self-Service Innovation Summit, Dec. 14-16 in Hollywood, Florida.
Mobile-based scan, pay-and-go technology offers incredible convenience for consumers using smartphones, which may lead to retailers questioning if kiosks are necessary. Many shopping experiences, however, require extensive information, visual presentations or dispensed physical products. In many instances, self-serve kiosks work in tandem with mobile technology. Panelists ready to address this critical issue include:
- Hank Green, vice president of food and beverage, AMC Theatres.
- Steve Lieber, vice president of franchise business development, BurgerFi.
- Ryan McWhirter, vice president of product management, 365 Retail Markets.
- Chris Smith, owner, Zunzi’s and Zunzibar.
Elliot Maras, editor of Kiosk Marketplace, will serve as moderator.
