Berlin-street food concept Doner Shack has seen record-breaking numbers in its latest Glasgow restaurant with sales of £40,000 ($45,721.40) and a footfall of over 2,500 in just one week.
To mark its debut at the Silverburn shopping center in the U.K., the brand served over 500 free kebabs in a four-hour period on Saturday.
“Doner Shack has become the benchmark for the fast-casual sector and a world class franchise opportunity,” Co-Founder Sanjeev Sanghera said in a company press release. “Our strategy was always to develop and invest in our operating model so that regardless of volume we would retain our consistency and speed of service. We served our customers at a lightning-quick speed and, the average order times were sub seven minutes — even during peak times. We’re now planning for an even bigger opening with our next opening in Baker Street, London within the next couple of months.”
He said the support the company has received since opening in Glasgow has been incredible.
“For the free kebab giveaway, more than 1,900 people had signed up to come along — these numbers demonstrate the excitement of our arrival,” he said. “Our kitchen staff deserve huge credit for all their hard work to serve as many people as possible in such a short period, and it also shows the efficiency and speed of our streamlined kitchen operations.”
Doner Shack has four restaurants in the U.K .with the other three in Leeds, Leicester and Manchester. Other units will open in the capital by late autumn with plans to open up to 150 restaurants in the next five years.
